Stitches

swollen area.. burns like hell when i pee.. help?

i just gave birth on saturday to 9 pound & 55 cm long baby.. and that's a pretty big baby. but it was all worth it cause he is beautiful. BUT however, my area tore from pushing too much and fast.. i just wanted it over and done with seeing as i was in labour for nearly 12 hours. my doctor tried to help stretch me but baby came out too fast. i tore around my butt. i only got 2 stitches.. so that wasn't too bad. the REAL problem is my one of my lips is really sensitive and swollen still so it burns SO BAD when i pee. im finding myself only peeing 3 times a day. i tried covering it with tissue first before i go, but near the end it hurts still. im still bleeding like JUST gave birth too so it makes it even harder! can anyone tell me this happened to them and give me some advice on how to ease the pain down there? im taking ibuprofen but it only helps so much, you know? thx.

  1. I would advise you to see your dr. By now your bleeding shouldnt be just like when you first gave birth, it should subside some, to a normal menstrual flow. You will want to get checked to make sure you dont have an infection brewing. Just to be safe. It will be sore for a week or two, hang in there. Try wiping with cool or room temp. wet washcloth, this will help cool the burn more. Good luck!
  2. Speak to your doctor & ask for some cream to put on the area to help soothe the pain, make sure you do not have an infection which I doubt very much its just going to take a little time to heal. You bleed for a couple of weeks after giving birth so this is nothing to worry about Hope you feel better soon xx
  3. Try using Tucks wipes, or any wipe with witch hazel. When I had my first child they gave them to me at the hospital. You can use them whenever you go to the bathroom, and you can even put one on the pad in your underwear. If that doesn't help then I'd call the nurse.
  4. have you called your doctor this can be a bladder infection I got that when I was pregnant and I tore too but I kept putting ice there it will get better just keep icing it and talk to your doctor did they not give you like pain killers or anything are you breast feeding? I would call your doc and see what he says..
  5. First, CONGRATS on your baby boy! =) I too just delivered my baby girl last Monday August 24th. It was 7.5 hours of labor and an hour and a half of pushing. I tore internally and received stitches as well. I was discharged on Wednesday and felt fine. I came home and was cooking and cleaning and goin up and down the stairs like nothing ever happened. The next day I woke up not even being able to move I was in so much pain. It turns out I had a vaginal hernia from not resting like I was suppose to. The doctor prescribed me Ibuprofen and vicodin but I didnt take the vicodin. I also got some witch hazel pads and some spray for burns the witch hazel pads and the spray worked wonders. Although I still couldnt move without being in tears it wasnt so bad. And the pain went away in two days. The Ibuprofen will help with any swelling but for me it didnt do anything for the pain. Just try to take it easy and see if you can get some witch hazel pads! I know it hurts. Between the labor or the burning after labor I dont know what was worse.... Hope I helped... If it gets too bad you can always call your doctor and see if they can give you something else for the pain.
  6. Thats just over 21 inches long and 9lb yes it is a big baby,. I understand completely what you are going through as my son was 10lb and 25 inches long the same thing happened to me. I had a hard time getting his head out as it measured 15 inches around. It took a good 3 months before felt "normal" again, I suffered hemorrhoids and tore badly and also was stitched up inside and out, you are very sensitive there when you pee and I found that vaseline smeared liberally on that part helped a little but everything takes time to heal. I was advised to sit on an ice pack to take the swelling down but honestly it was too uncomfortable to sit down anywhere due to all the stitches. In time it will heal, just like everything else, good luck with your baby boy and as you say its all worth it in the end.
