Stitches

What did your stitches feel like as they healed after you had your baby?

I had a bunch of stitches after my vaginal delivery. At first they hurt, then itched a little, etc., but now it is 4 weeks after delivery and they really itch, and also burn. Is this normal, or do I have a yeast infection? (I've never had one before). Any suggestions??

  1. My stitches hurt for about 5 weeks. Then they itches for awhile but that didn't last long. A yeast infection itches, burns and has a white cottage cheese like discharge with it. It doesn't sound like a yeast infection but if it continues I would tell your doctor about it at your next check-up.
  2. My were sore for about a month or so but I cant remember them itching but contact your doctor if it continues.
  3. Usually the itching means its healing. Mine also burned when i peed, sat in a weird position, bent over to far etc. Sit in a warm bath, that always makes the hurt go away!
  4. My one stupid stitch bothered me right up till my 6 week appointment. It itched like crazy and I seem to remember it burning as well. If you're concerned just give a phone call into your doctor. If you're not bleeding anymore, watch your discharge to make sure it's not cottage cheese like, which will mean you have a yeast infection.
