Stitches

Are stitches suppossed to burn?

I got five stitches in my left index finger 2 days ago (my friend accidently slammed it in a locker at school) and today they started stinging and burning. Is this normal?

1. could have an infection. wipe around them with rubbing alcohol.. then wrap them.
