What is a good way to learn how to crochet?

I have been trying to learn how to crochet since I was small, but I crochet left handed and all of my family members, that know how to crochet, are right handed. So I don't know if I'm ever going to learn more than a single crochet at this point. I was just wondering if there is any way to teach yourself how to do this. I have tried a number of books, but they were no help since no one can seem to tell me what I'm doing wrong.
