- You might want to check your local yarn store or even a JoAnn's Fabric store to see what Knitting Magazines they carry.
- i get Interweave Knits every month and love it. Vogue Knitting seems to complex. Knitty.com is a great free online magazine. Knitters and Knit n Style seem to old fashion for me. Debbie Bliss Magazine has the best classic style you would keep forever type of patterns. also, try ravelry.com it is an online community for knitters and crocheters. it has about two week wait list to get in the community, but it is worth the wait to see all those patterns and different types of yarn.
- Your local yarn shop should have a selection of knitting magazines for you to look through. The hobby stores (A.C. Moore, Michaels, Hobby Lobby) usually have racks of current knitting magazines, and bookstores that have large magazine selections (Books-a-Million and Barnes & Noble) will have numerous knitting-related periodicals. It's hard to say which ones you will like best. Creative Knitting is also one of my favorites. I find the patterns in Vogue to be within my skill level--the ones rated Very Easy Very Vogue are exceptionally easy and are appropriate for beginners. Knit 1 is aimed at a younger audience and Knit Simple at a beginner-to-intermediate skill level. Debbie Bliss has a range of challenges as well. All of these are members of the Vogue "family." Interweave Knits is one from which I have made several items, and its companion, KnitScene has high style garments made with simple techniques. Fons and Porter, the quilting folks, have a new knitting-oriented magazine out that you might like. You might want to avoid Knitters: my experience has been that it takes 3 or 4 years before the items in Knitters are "in style." Of course, sometimes it takes me that long to finish a project, but still. My personal rule is, unless there are three things in the magazine that I will make or use (such as an article on a technique I want to learn), I don't buy the magazine. It's really easy to get stacks of magazines with cute projects that never get made.
- I also enjoy Creative Knitting magazine. Some of the others I purchase that have easy patters are Knit Simple and Knit 'n Style. Since I don't don't your age group or taste it's hard to make a proper recommendation. But I do suggest you join Ravelry.com then you can check out patterns from several magazines online and also see finished projects
