Can anyone recommend a person or company for great deals on sewing and embroidery machines?

Industrial machines preferred, but interested in ANY type of machine. Thanks a bunch. :-)

  2. In my opinion, the best place for you to buy is at a dealer. The price can be better at a dealer and you usually get lessons with the machine. Plus, it helps to get a discount on cleaning services too. I would highly reccomend staying away from "industrial" machines. Most of them are a scam. They are not really industrial at all. I also hightly reccomend Baby Lock, Brother, or Janome (when purchased from a dealer) because they are usually reliable machines with good service records and are considerably less costly than Viking, Bernina, and Pfaff. I also advise you NOT to buy any machine from a big retail store such as a fabric store or Walmart etc. You get no service and the machines they advertise as being "janome or Brother...etc" are made to the specifications of the retailer and are not the best examples of their workmanship. Good Luck in your search

  4. Contrary to the other answers, an industrial embroidery machine is not a "scam". There are several reputable companies that manufacture embroidery machines with multiple "heads", each with several needles. These are usually mounted on frames with room for the hoops and related peripherals. The industrial embroidery machines are higher speed units and can easily run into $150,000.00 to $1,000,000.00 NOT INCLUDING SOFTWARE!!! If you are still interested in pursuing this issue, and you are on the West Coast of the United States, I can recommend a company called C.H.Holderby Sewing Machines in Seattle. WA. They have the machines and the qualified technicians to best serve you.
  5. About 5 months ago, I purchased a Viking designer SE and could not be happier. No problems with the machine - just not enough time to use it! Worked a deal with the independent shop owner for a reduced price & also took the free lessons. I've done a number of items for other folks, for a fee, so I'd say this machine has become commercial in use. Depending on the scale of your embroidery operation, a machine, such as the Viking SE, might be a good one for you. If you're planning on going "big time", look at eBay as they have had multi-head industrial units, used of course, listed. These could be a good starting point for you, if your anticipated work load justifies it AND you have the space as well as the required flooring for these large units. Good Luck!
  6. Have you considered an online auction site? I know I have purchased many, many machines online in auctions (new of course) I saved hundreds of dollars on smaller ones (such as the pe150) and save over a thousand dollars on my industrial machine.. hope you don't forget the best deals :) Connie Perry http://www.dollarstitch.com Home of the low cost, high quality embroidery designs
