Stitches

Is it possible to get stitches on old scars?

Well my cousin had this scar on the side of her chin it is Visible and it is about 2 inches long. She says that she can get stitches but in my head i am thinking it is impossible because i don't think the doctor would even let her get stitches because it's an old scar. So is it even possible to get stitches on old scars that is visible?

1. yep, the old scar would be cut out, and a plastic surgeon would put new stitches in.
