Are knitting needles allowed on board a plane?
I am flying Southwest and I am curious if they allow knitting needles...

- The TSA, who governs what can and cannot be carried onboard an aircraft, specifically notes on their website (at the link below) that knitting needles are allowed both in carry-on bags as well as checked luggage. Note that, on the second link below, the TSA does not specifically prohibit metal knitting needles (as is incorrectly asserted in other answers) -- they do recommend that people not bring them in the event that an officer deems them to be a weapon; however, it does not specifically state they are disallowed.
- Yes,but only bamboo and some other kind I can't remember. No metal ones are allowed though. Hope this helps and have a great flight!
- I think only plastic ones, not metal ones. Try contacting Southwest just to be sure.
