How much would it cost me to have a more or less custom blanket made?

I have a full size blanket...or comforter, whatever it's called. I've had it since I was like 4, so as you can imagine, it's not in the best of shape. But I don't wanna get rid of it...if a 22 yr old can have a blanky, then this one is mine, lol. So I was thinking of this: having new material put on it, and a bit of emroidery done...maybe. On the top, I was wanting it to be white, and then have a giant black triquetra put on it. I assume embroidery would be the best for this, I really don't know. And then the bottom would just be like a gray or something. But when this is done, the blanket as it is now would have to be sewn up in a few places. Does anyone have any idea how much something like this would cost or where I would even go to to have it done? Thank you in advance...

  1. real cheap if you do it yourself. more meaning too
  2. go to a quilt shop. Look in the phone book for a local one. Or you may try to contact a local quilting guild...ask at a fabric store for their whereabouts. Also ask at the fabric store for recommendations; they often keep cards and flyers on display for locals who do custom sewing. A quilt shop will probably charge anywhere from $125 to 250 for reworking your bankie. Local seamstress-types may do it for a little less. You'll have to play detective. And don't leave it with anyone you don't automatically have a good feeling about...it could get put aside and lost. You'll have to give the person a deadline, too, or it could get put on the back burner... Best of luck.
