Where can I find simple, beginners tam/beret knitting patterns?

I am looking for knitting patterns for a tam or fashionable beret. I've had trouble trying to find any aimed at novice knitters or written in simple terms. Any help gratefully received!

  1. go to your local library they have lots of books on knitting which may be helpful because what is easy to you and me may be different. but you could look online google free knit hat patterns and also try burda online.
  2. Ravelry is a great place to start out. You do need to register, but then you have access to their database of patterns. Some free PDF downloads some link direct to sites. It's very handy for a quick resource and ideas, there are many filters to refine what you want as well.
  3. There are several websites with free patterns: Lion Brand Yarn, Knitty.com, Knitting on the Net, and Knit Two Together. Knitting Pattern Central is one of my favorites and I've included an easy knit Tam pattern link from their website.
  4. Hi there! I would definitely check out the books at your local library :) If you want some internet resources maybe try searching Knitty (www.knitty.com). There are so many creative and interesting hat designs, some are a little advanced though. Another person suggested Ravlry (www.ravelry.com), which is fantastic for finding patterns as there are many ways to limit your search so you get relevant responses. There will be plenty of patterns to choose and I am sure you will find one that you feel confident in completing. Best of luck!
