  1. I do both knitting and crocheting. However for a big piece like a baby blanket if you don't have a knitting machine, I believe that crocheting is faster. You could try a sample piece to see for yourself if you knit faster than you can crochet.
  2. Yes. I have been crocheting and knitting for over 40 years and have made over 100 baby blankets (I donate to charity). It's definitely faster to crochet a baby blanket than to knit one if you are using a nice soft baby yarn and a close knit pattern. There are a lot of great patterns out there, here's a link with some free patterns. Also sign up with Lionbrand.com, it's free but you have to be a member.
  3. I've always crochet faster than I knit (and more evenly too). Each person may be different though.
  4. IF you know how to do both, then crocheting is faster. BUT if you only know how to do one (either knit or crochet) then it would be faster to do that rather than learn a new skill. IF you do not know either, I happen to believe knitting is easier (I teach knitting and learned that first). Someone I know who teaches crocheting learned that first and believes crocheting is easier.
