what is the best way for a young black male in a poor neighborhood to learn crocheting?

no where in the question did i indicate it was for me.

2. well i learned from my mom and she learned from her aunt so tell him to ask around in his family
3. Google crocheting tutorials and there should be help for everything from chain stitch to fancy finishes.
4. Probably online, if there's no one around to teach you. There are lots of great websites with slow-motion videos to show you; that's how I learned. A good one to start with is KnittingHelp.com--I know it says knitting, but it has crochet videos too. Just keep practicing with those videos and you'll get it eventually!
