Edging around the edge of a baby blanket (crochet)?

The blanket is patterned so that the sides go two single, two double, etc. What edging could I use that's simple and will work with the way the blanket was made?

  1. How about just a simple chain stitch loop all around. Chain 5, skip 2 spaces and insert needle in the third stitch and repeat this on all four sides. If you want it to look even 'lacier', make two or three rows around.
  2. you could use a simple shell stitch edging, loop edging, or even single crochets evenly spaced. In other words, one single crochet in each single and two single crochets in each double.
