uneven ends of crochet baby blanket help?

have messed up big time,Every row i do it seems the ends get shorter even though i stitch as many double crochet as i can.I have taught myself, and now paying for it.I have put many hours into my blanket. It is for my unborn son,I have 2 months to finish this blanket.I have some pictures of my mistake,My question is..is there anyway to fix this without starting all over?I really dont think i fully understand how to start a new row everytime. http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a56/Death_unkown/?action=view&current=IMG_01842.jpg

  1. I hate to tell you this but your going to have to start over and do it right, find a pattern and follow it. The international way of crocheting is by what looks like chicken scratches, but I also have a book that tells me what each stitch means, it looks complicated but it really isn't. You should be able to do a baby blanket in a day or two once you learn how. There are other books also that abbreviate the stitch names and you have to know what they are in order to read the pattern. Making a blanket or anything is much easier with a pattern when you are just starting out. Doing it without a pattern is for advanced needleworkers. You can search google for free patterns also. But depending on your design the turning and stitches varies so it is hard to tell you what your doing wrong without seeing it closeup and knowing your design your going for. So if you want to get it done, get a beginer easy pattern and a crochet bible! And congratulations.
  2. I hate to tell you but you will have to take it out and start over. Your problem, it looks to me, is that when you turn you ski the first stitch, there by decreasing each row by one stitch. I will tell you a pattern that is easier to keep track of and it makes a wonderful baby blanket. You make a foundation chain in a multipul of three plus two. That would be like 90 plus 2, then you turn and single crochet in the second chain from your hook and in that same chain take two couble crochets. skip two chains and then single crochet in nexrt chain. 2 double crochet stitches in same stitch and skip two, repeat that to the end row and single crochet in last chain, chain one and turn. in your second row single crochet and 2 double crochet in first single crochet. skip two double crochet and single and two double i next single crochet. repeat pattern to end and end with single in last single. Chain one and turn repeat this row until the blanket is the size you wish. I will find a pattern in crochet pattern central that is using this patern that I have discribed so you may be able to understand it better, if you need the reference. There is a book that I found very helpful called the complete encycoedia of stitchery when I was getting started. I hope this helps.
  3. you are missing chains, this means that you are decreasing when you dont mean to. the only way to fix this would be to start over, there is no other way around it. What you need to do is make a turning chain. Since you are working in Double crochet you need to make 3 chains at the end of each row then double crochet into the next stitch. http://www.nexstitch.com/v_turning.html
  4. There is a possibility that you can put a border around the blanket and that would cover up your mistake. Let me know
