Stitches

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, a stitch in time saves nine, which is more useful to squid?

  1. the later
  2. Probably a bird in the hand, as this is eatable food, and could survive a little longer with a food source.
  3. Don't know but if you find out let us know.
  4. Who cares, there's plenty more fish in the sea.
  5. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush may well describe an effective hunting technique - don't risk current gains for extra benefit, and may well form part of an effective evolutionary stable strategy. Squid factor: 9 A stitch in time saves nine describes a time costing technique that repairs made early require less effort than those left. Living organisms repair automatically at the first opportunity, there is no "forgetting" to heal onself. Although evolution favours this principle, the alternative isn't really possible as with the first example. Squid factor: 4 So, I choose " A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"
  6. One saying is applicable to predators and the other to animals that are preyed upon. As Squid are both, it would all depend on its immediae environment. If the risk of predators is low, then a bird in the hand indicating sustinace is better but if predators are lurking it needs to be in the best possible condition to ensure its survival so food is less important that health so here a a stitch would be favoured.
  7. if its a sick squid i'd say a stitch in time. I should know i'm a squid Doctor.
  8. well the average squid probably only sees the occasional seagulls ass, and the passing penguin. So its relationship with bushed birds is probably only tenuous at best. It would have very little use fro a needle and thread having cleverly avoided using clothing of any kind by using a thick rubbery skin, which also makes it unattractive to most sensible creatures, Officers, for the purpose of this exercise, are considered sentient; but only just. French likewise. Of course if it HAD used clothing it would have needed its Mum to do repairs since all the other younger lady squids would be too busy doing lunch to darn the socks anyway
  9. One in the bush is worth two in the hand.
  10. Neither to be honest - the most relevant to squid would be don't count your cod roe before its hatched!
  11. The Bird in the hand. Seagulls make good eating if you are hungry. What does a squid care about stitching, it can't sew!
