Stitches

What am I doing wrong in my embroidery as letters pull the fabric?

I have a Brother Pe 700 Embroidery machine. I am trying to embroider a word on a tee shirt. The letters are about half inch but they pull the fabric and once done the writing is "crooked". Does it have to do with "pull compensation" or with type of stitch? Please give details. Thanks

  1. It is the fabric. It requires stabilizing. As the needle goes up and down it is stretching and pulling. you can use an iron on pelon and leave it in or pin on a water soluble stabilzer that will wash out when you launder the piece. Some times it is easier to paint on a Tee shirt and for that I put a stack of paper to keep it from bleeding through to the other side and a piece of fine grit sandpaper under the Tee to grip it and hold it still while I paint.
