symptoms of a wound thats ready to remove stitches?

so i got a wound on my forehead 10 days ago. Its about 2 inches long skin deep, didnt cut the muscle. I received 13 stitches. Docs says about 5 to 10 days i can have then removed. My nurse friend said its fairly easy to remove that i can do myself with small scissors and tweezers. So what are the symptoms to know thats its healed enough to remove stitches. for all who ask i was running in the woods and clipped a overhanging branch. Ouch!

1. Just get your GP to do it. He/she can assess whether the wound is appropriately healed or not.
