the saying,," a stitch in time saves nine" saves nine what?

Public Comments

  1. Saves NINE stitches
  2. A stitch in time saves nine is reference to saving time. If you have some cloth with a rip in it then it needs sewn up. If you do this quickly, when you first notice the rip, then you only need to place a stitch or two before it's mended. If you put it off and procrastinate then you'll need to put in 9 or 10 stitches before it's properly mended. Basically the saying means to act promptly so you don't end up with more work to do than you originally had.
  3. Straight off it would mean nine stitches, but with that comes a saving of time & work too.But best of all i like the fact that you are not faced with a great big repair job just when you are all set to go on an important job, I like this Thomas Huxley quote.Do what you should do,when you should do it,whether you feel like it or not.
  4. Nip it in the bud..Catch it while it is still small and correct it...
