the saying,," a stitch in time saves nine" saves nine what?
Public Comments
- Saves NINE stitches
- A stitch in time saves nine is reference to saving time. If you have some cloth with a rip in it then it needs sewn up. If you do this quickly, when you first notice the rip, then you only need to place a stitch or two before it's mended. If you put it off and procrastinate then you'll need to put in 9 or 10 stitches before it's properly mended. Basically the saying means to act promptly so you don't end up with more work to do than you originally had.
- Straight off it would mean nine stitches, but with that comes a saving of time & work too.But best of all i like the fact that you are not faced with a great big repair job just when you are all set to go on an important job, I like this Thomas Huxley quote.Do what you should do,when you should do it,whether you feel like it or not.
- Nip it in the bud..Catch it while it is still small and correct it...
