what does pM mean in knitting.?
pM is used as an abbreviation in a knitting pattern called,;Sweetheart sweater set printed in Knitting digest Magazine,Vol19,page11.

- look on the page or in the book somewhere for knitting abbreviations - there is usually an explanation for all abbreviations used in the pattern at a guess I would say it means place marker - but not knowing how the sweater is knitted and without the pattern in front of me that's all it is - a guess.

- PM and it's cohort sl m, indicate that you need to place a marker or slip the marker as you go. In this case the marker should be something on the needle itself, not around or through a stitch. Stitch markers are as simple as 3 or so inches of yarn looped into a lark's head knot around the needle, a paper clip, or a simple rubber O ring. I, personally use plastic coilless safety pin types since I usually knit on autopilot and have a bad habit of knitting yarn markers in. I also find them a tactile reminder of where I am in a pattern, too.
