Stitches

Is knitting socks with elasticized yarn any different from knitting with regular sock yarn?

I'm using elasticized sock yarn for the first time, and I wondered if you pull the stitches any tighter or looser than knitting with regular sock yarn.

  1. Well, yes and no. If you maintain your usual tension your socks will fit a bit more snugly than if you loosen up. But knitting tightly will really cause the socks to fit smaller than you might expect. In some socks, like baby socks or booties, this may be what you want, but for most adult socks, you want to knit at your usual tension, unless you want something that restricts blood flow.
