How did you care for your stitches after you had your baby?

- For a C-section? Or Vaginal? I had a vaginal birth and I didn't have to do anything with my stitches. Just left it alone.
- I left them alone and rinsed with water after going to the bathroom. The nurses will show you what to do.
- I rinsed them off with a peri bottle after I used the bathroom. That was about it.
- I had 4 stitches when I had my son due to some tearing. They give you a bottle to fill with water to rinse yourself because, for obvious reasons, you can't wipe down there. That was about it.
- For vaginal: Wash with warm water/ph balanced soap, and wipe clean with tucks pads, and spray with dermoplast spray Change pads frequently keep dry
- When i left the hospital they gave me a sorta squirt bottle every time after i went to the bathroom i was fill that up and squirt water to clean myself. Do not use toilet paper. They even gave me cream/foam to put on a pad to help keep everything clean and painless.
- I'm not sure if you mean c-section or vaginal. I had vaginal. I just used the antiseptic spray the doc gave me, and lined my maternity pads with Witch Hazel Pads (like tucks). And rinse with warm water after using the bathroom.
- I had a c-section 10 weeks ago and I didn't get any stitches. They used glue instead. The healing went a lot quicker and I didn't have to have any stitches removed. If you have future children, ask your doctor about getting glued up instead of stitched up!
- Don't do anything to them. (If you're talking about vaginal tear stitches). I made the mistake of overcleaning, and somehow (I still don't really know how) I got an infection. It was the doctor that told me this was as a result of overcleaning (I tend to be a bit OCDish!) and that if I'd not used any soap etc. I'd have probably been fine. Believe me, you don't be wanting an infection down there! That was the worst thing about the whole process, I could barely walk!
- Vaginal? You should have a small bottle, you fill with water each time you go the bathroom spray the warm water down there to make sure it stays clean. You can use tucks pads to put on your pads to help it feel better, there is also a spray called dermoplast that "numbs" the area a bit to help with the soreness.
- I had a c-section and the stitches got quite inflamed. Was prescribed antibiotics by my GP but he also suggested drying the area gently with a hairdryer as I didn't like to dry it too roughly with a towel!
- Vaginal They gave me a sitz bath which was warm salt water that i sat in every day for a bit to help the healing process. And a squeeze bottle when i went to the washroom. And keep it clean and as dry as you can... C-section Just a daily shower and i used a blow dryer on cool setting to keep it dry after the shower rather than rub it dry as suggested by the doctor. But it wasnt stiches is was some weird glue and staples but the staples came out in 48 hours after my surgery.
