Stitches

What is this knitting machine called and where can I get one?

It is arranged in a wheel and it has hooks that go up and down to knit a tube. You turn a crank on the side and the hooks knit the yarn into this tube like thing as they go up and down. Then you can take the tubes and make scarves and hats. The DISCOVER company sold this device as a toy, but I would like to get a real one that will not break even if used often.

  1. They're called "Circular Knitting Machines" or "Sock Knitting Machines". Addi makes one that retails in the $200 dollar zone. You can probably find one on eBay.
  2. These toy knitting machines were sold by several companies: Singer, Barbie, Mattel, and a few others. You often see them on eBay at very high prices. http://cgi.ebay.com/MATTEL-KNIT-MAGIC-TOY-KNITTING-MACHINE-HAT-PUPPET-BEE.._W0QQitemZ250426654719QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090518?IMSfp=TL090518164003r14367 You can also get some better made machines that are meant for making hats or scarves, or socks.
