Stitches

Can the nurses/docs give you a local anaesthetic to remove stitches from an already existing very sore?

skin graft? My mum is due to have her stitches taken out 9 days after her skin graft on her collarbone, but she is incredibly sore and won't be able to tolerate it being done. She is having to take 6 Ibuprofen's for the soreness alone and I cry alone at night with worry. Can they anaesthetise it?

  1. Local anesthetic isn't given for removal of sutures, "6" ibuprofen it way too many, are you sure you have this info right?
  2. Yes
  3. Yes they can give a local but she shouldn't really be taking 6 ibuprofen at once. If she is having it taken out in the morning, she should take two night before and then 2 before the procedure and after etc (being careful not to exceed the maximum dose is 24 hours)
