Stitches after delivery? How long until they're healed?

I tore in three places giving birth to my baby girl last week. Two of the tears run along either side of where my urine comes out. It burns when I urinate. I called the doctor on call when it got so bad that I couldn't even force myself to pee. She thought it sounded like a bladder infection and called in a perscription for me. I've been taking the perscription, but the burning is still there. So I went and saw my doctor yesterday, he took out five of the stitches and sent me home saying that it would still burn when I urinate but by taking out the stitches I'd be able to urinate more easily. I'm not sure why. Anyway, how long did it take your tears to heal after delivery? Did any of you tear near your urethra?

1. I had an episiotamy ( sp?) and i tore as well. my stitches were supposed to disolve themselves.. but some of them never did so at 2 months after having my daughter i had to have them cut out. For the most part.. most of them were gone and healded at 4 to 6 weeks..
2. my body didn't heal for two months, wiping still hurt. sex- I TOLD MY HUSBAND NOT TO COME NEAR ME! My daughter ripped me inside out, all they told me. i am pretty sure i had stitched pretty far in.
