Stitches from giving birth - question?
I gave birth the 21s at 10 am and had a superficial tear inside that I got about 7 or 8 stitches in, the self dissolving ones. I had been washing and taking care of it like the nurses and my doctor told me, warm water and the witch hazel pads, etc. I was able to feel the stitches anytime I took a shower, so I knew where they were. This morning when I woke up I was in alot of pain, the stitch site burned badly and when I took a shower to clean the area, I felt for the stitches and didn't feel them there, but the skin was not torn, it is just tender and sensitive. No more blood than usual when I clean or use the restroom. It has become easier to sit now throughout the day and the burning is gone, is 5 days too soon for the stitches to have dissolved? Or could they have popped in my sleep? First baby so I don't know the stitch facts and my doc doesnt work Saturdays. Thanks

- get your butt to the doctor, aspecially if you have pain. pain is a sign your body gives you when something is wrong, i had a c section but my incision got infected and i was in the hospital for 2 weeks to this day i think i had staff infection so please go to the doctor.
- i had three stitches and they dissolved a few days after i gave birth i experienced really bad burning afterwards i also thought that the stitches burst but they didnt, the burning sensation is normal since ur body is still trying to heal itself burning for me disappeared after a week jus continue to cleanse the area as u normally would
- have a look in the mirror, may sound weird but at least youll get a better idea. when i had my stitches, they were sore to walk with but not too bad until about a week later. it felt the same for me but as they start dissolving they feel less there if that makes sense. i bathed in savlon every day that definately helped. try not to touch them that would add to them being sore. i wasnt told how many stitches i was given but it must have been a few because it felt like ages til they were finished doing them. they start healing and dissolving basically straight away but not noticable for a few weeks. if it gets worse get them checked incase its infected.
- Mine dissolved fast too. I remember them telling 3-5 days, if I recall correctly. If you're not bleeding and not in too much pain (just some discomfort), you are probably okay. It helped me to sit in warm bath water with some baking soda in it. Weird, I know, but one of the nurses told me! Good luck and congrats on the little one!
- Took mine about 6-10 days. You may want to have it checked though. Don't take chances with infection.
- well if u r fine now and r able to sit and do stuff then you'r stitches have desolved.my stictches took me 2 months can you believe it?i couldent sit i couldent walk i couldent bend i couldent lay down and switch sides i was in so much pain.i was given ice pads and this spray i used after every visit to the toilet and it burnt like hell.consider your self the luckiest sweety......i coudent have sex for two months.....waoo i went through some rough time.they say it all depends on your body with some people it just takes a few days and with others a fortune.the nurses were amazed with how long it was taking for my stitches to desolve.hey if your still not satisfied and think there might be some thing wrong then give your doctor a call dont wait too long you dont want anything wrong to happen and you know the docs just a call away
