what is the difference between a plastic crochet hook and a aluminum hook?

I started a project with a plastic crochet hook size 5.5mm and it broke, I have a aluminum hook size 5.50mm is this the same? The stitches look the same but I was just wondering what the difference between the two were.

1. theres not really much of a difference, but from past experience, i would say that the metal one is a lot better to use.
2. They are the SAME size. 5.5 and 5.5(0) are the same!! They difference is the labeling and the material they are made of.
3. the only difference is that one hook is made out of plastic and the other is aluminum, the stitches will come out looking the same.
