Stitches

How can you stitch together a big K on a blanket in crochet?

you know how when you crochet squares or rectangles to stitch together for a blanket? well how do i crochet the blanket and form a big K with those squares. letters like H, L, and stuff are easier but what bout K???? and i may or may not do it in squares . i might but what about rectangles? Ks are hard. i dont think its possible for me to do em without makeing half rectangles or squares. how would i do that??

  1. draw your letters that are angled out on graph paper saying x number of squares are a block. Then you know how many blocks you need to make with diagonal color line on them. and most importantly which way the angle line needs to run in them.
  2. Because it is too hard here to show you what to do, you have to do it yourself. Just draw it out on paper. Draw your K the size you want it in relation to the blanket. Then draw in the squares. You are right that they don't flow as easily as an L or H, but it can be done. You can leave them as squares and make a K. Or you can make triangles (diagonal squares) for a smoother letter. Then you will see how they all fit together. You don't have to make triangles, but when making a square, do them in two colours, making the angle as you need for that part of the letter. It always helps to make a plan on paper so you know where you are going and what it will look like while getting there. Once that is done, it's just a matter of sitting down, getting to work and making the squares to put the whole thing together.
  3. Cut out pieces of paper the same size as your crocheted squares. Make the best K you can out of them. Your K will look like stacked boxes that should fall over. They won't fall, of course, but they'll sure look like they should. To fill in the spaces, crochet a chain stitch through the blanket in the same color as the K. It may look a little bulky. If you don't like it, pull it out. It's only chain stitch so it pulls out fast! If you have not yet made your squares, crochet a few of them (use your paper pieces to figure out how many) in two colors, diagonally. One color is the K color and one color is the blanket color. Fit these 1/2&1/2 squares into the spaces that the regular squares leave. Email me if you have questions about any of this, and I'll go into more detail on that part..
