Does it hurt to get stitches removed?
I went in for surgery two weeks ago to get an AVM on my leg removed that was on my thigh right above my left knee. Next Friday, i am going to the hospital to get the stitches removed. I have never had stitches before. I have many layers of stitches, some that dissolve and some that need to be taken out on Friday. What does it feel like?

- It does not hurt at all. They cut the thread, not you. it is like getting your hair cut :)
- i've had staples and stitches both. it was for c-sections. anyway, it didn't hurt. you could just feel some tugging. no biggie
- not at all
- I have had stitches a few times. It did not hurt very much to get them removed.
- Nothing at all - especially on the leg. No worries!
- My experience with stitches is that you just feel a little tug but no pain.
- I have had tons of stitches (never any that dissolve) they have all been the ones they cut and pull out, it never hurt me, didn't really feel anything, when they took the ones out of my hand it kinda tickled, i didn't feel the ones in the back on my head, the ones in my leg i could feel them come out (it was an odd feeling) but no pain.
- no it does not hurt at all
- The only stitches that will be removes are the ones on the surface. It feels like a light tug on the skin and does not hurt. The surgery hurt a lot more than the suture removal will.
- At most it will be a slight pinch. You'll be fine.
- no worries it doesnt hurt in most cases, but sometimes you might feel a pinch but thats all, trust me i get hurt in a daily basis it will be fine:)
- it doesn't hurt, mostly tug and pull, don't worry.
- I don't think so
- Trust me, as long as you don't let your dad do it, you'll be completely fine.
- no they just pull them out
- feels werid. no pain. :)
