How long should i keep a keep a band aid on my stitches after they were removed?

My doctor told me to put a band aid on my stitches for a couple of days, after i got them taken out. Its been like 5 days now and my mom still won let me take the band aid off. She said to keep it on for 2 weeks. When should i take it off?

1. now most likely, wounds need oxygen to heal. if your band is covering it, it will take MUCH longer to heal.
