I'm trying to crochet a baby blanket. It calls for, "2 dc in each ch-2 loop across." What does this mean?
I found this great design for a baby blanket. I'm just a bit confused because I don't understand what, "2dc in each ch-2 loop across" means. Can somebody help me decipher this? Do I just make two double crochet stitches and then chain 2? or....??

- In the previous row, you must have had to make ch 2 loops between stitches. You proceed making 2 dc inside each space just as you would if you were making a dc on top of another dc, although you put your hook into the look and yarn over, not trying to dc inside of each chain, unless the pattern calls for it. I am assuming it does not. I am guessing the instructions say to dc in each dc AND 2 dc in each ch 2 loop. That wouild give you a solid row and the next would have holes in it. Or it could mean two dc, then ch 2, and two dc. When you get to the next row, you would do 2 dc in each ch 2 loop, do 2ch, then 2dc in the next loop. The instructions must say which is which.
- I believe in the pattern u did a certain number of chains ,u will b placing 2 dc in each ch -2 loop until u get 2 the end of that chain .U needed 2 give the exact pattern instructions 2 get a better response . Good Luck!
- It sounds as if you whould have had to chain stitched on the row before this one......but it also could mean that you make 2 double crochets in a chain 2 space.....What was the row that you crocheted before this one ...might help us to understand it better.....
- I think they don't actually mean IN the loop, but rather in the space created by the loop, working around the loop itself. Check the photos here showing working into the space. http://www.crochetcabana.com/hints-patterns.htm#space Hope that helps.
- It means you have to make 2dc in each space from the last row all the way to the end
- In the previous row, you should have made some spaces where you chain 2. In this row, you will make 2 double crochet stitches in that chain 2 space. Proceed across the entire row. You won't leave any chain space between the double crochets.
- I am thinking that in the previous row, you chain 2, if so, that is what they are referring to that you should "2dc in the ch2". Take a look at the patter and see if it DOES have any "ch2's" in it.........hopefully this helps!
