Why do I always get cold hands when on the PC or when doing needlework etc?

My hands always seem to end up frozen every time I am using my hands for something like typing on the PC or doing cross-stitch or model painting etc, even cooking sometimes. It leaves me with a lot of pain in my hands as they feel like blocks of ice. I've tried the fingerless gloves but they don't help either :S Any ideas would be gratefully received
