A question on knitting? casting off to be precise?

I am making a scarf in the rib stitch. im just doing a basic knit, purl, knit, purl stitch down to whole row. when i cast off, just i do that same knit pattern? or do i do purl knit purl knit instead?

2. You bind off in pattern, that is, you keep to the rib pattern when you bind off. You bind off in knit, purl, knit, purl until you get down to the last stitch. Hope this helps.
