Does anyone know what issue of McCalls Needlework Magazine from the 1970s has the tube hat pattern?
I am looking for a knitted hat pattern. It was made of worsted yarn, size 10 or 10 1/2 dp needles, knitted in a tube and then one end pushed inside the other. It is the warmest hat I've ever made, but cannot find the pattern I had.

- You could try just doing that anyway using dpn's or circular needles. Its called Double Knitting ,Just cast on and do rib for a few rows then knittill its twice the normal beanie size ,rib for a few rows, Then knit through the first row of rib to join and see how you go. If not try Knitting Pattern Central ,Knitting 911 or KnittingHelp.com Oh and if you really want an interesting hat try making a Moebius hat here just one link http://www.toroidalsnark.net/mkkb.html
- You don't need a pattern for that...you've already given the instructions in your question!! That's exactly what you do... Just knit round and round in a tube... and then fold it inside the other end. You can do it in plain stitch or in 1/1 ribbing. There are some patterns like this on the net.. just google for it. Take any hat pattern, and knit it twice.. from the fold, and there you have it. Make either end in different colours, and you can wear them either way!
