is it easier to learn how to crochet then it is to knit?
my sister is pregnant w/ her first baby and i wanted to make the baby a blanket but i have never knitted or crocheted before and i was wondering which is easier and faster to learn

- It all depends on the individual. I found crocheting easy to get interested in. I had a blanket project which took no time at all. Knitting was slightly harder, I had made a scarf and it looked ugly to me. I had a nonexistent teacher so I learned through trial and error. Once you learn how to knit, the process is a no brainer, and one can knit and talk and watch tv or babysit at the same time. I guess that in my case, I judged my results first- then based on that judgment concluded that crocheting is waaaayyyy better than the dueling needles.
- I made each of my babies a small blanket. I crocheted granny squares and then sewed them together. Very easy.. In knitting, I can never keep the edges straight so I gave that up.
- Crocheting is definitely easier to learn. I learned to do it as a kid. I tried knitting and it was far more complicated. -Brian
- hi my nan started crocheting late in life and 40 years on we still have her blankets
- My spouse has done both for many years, she says as long as your willing to learn and have dexterity go for it.
- I found crocheting easier (one hook, instead of two) but to tell you the truth, after I learned how to knit as well, I can't choose one over the other. Both are such great hobbies :)
