What is the warmest knitting stitch pattern?
I am going to knit a scarf and hat and would like to know what is the warmest stitch pattern? Also, what is the warmest material that's not made of animal products (wool or whatever). Thank you.

- I think the warmest stitch pattern is Fisherman's Rib. In this stitch when you are knitting on the front side, you knit every second stitch into the hole on the stitch below the one on the needle, making a very thick stitch - this is usually shown as k1b. Your first and every alternate row is purl every stitch across the row (this is wrong side). On the front (right) side, you P1,( k1b, p1) and repeat those two stitches across the row, ending with a P1 or p2, depending on how many stitches you have on your needle. For the warmest material I would suggest you go to a shop that sells yarn and feel the ones not made from animal products as the warmest is not always the most comfortable, particularly as you are going to wear it against the skin. I like to make mine with whatever feels softest in the thickness of the yarn I am looking for. good luck
