Stitches

Any tips for uneven knitting stitches?

I'm having a problem keeping uniform tension in my stitches...some stitches are too tight, some are too loose. What can I do?

  1. Practice, practice, practice. Your tension will become more even as you become more comfortable with knitting.
  2. This often occurs when handknitting. Usually, the stitches even out when the pieces are washed.
  3. try to keep your tension on the yarn even and keep practicing. youll get over this hurdle in no time.
  4. personally, i think this is something you will develop in time with maybe more experience. i was knitting/crocheting for years before i finally was about to get it to look normal lol good luck, they do have products in the store, i cant remember the name of it but its in the knitting isle- its meant to help you keep your stitches straigt and even with one another. good luck
  5. First, make sure you are casting on in a fairly tight & strong manner, cable cast on is the most flexible I have found that holds its shape easiest on its own. Second, make sure you are making your stitches the same place on the needle each time. If you are doing some stitches on the points and some on the shaft, they will never be even. Always make sure you take the stitch all the way to the shaft before you finish the stitch. Third, practice, practice, practice. You have heard it before & will hear it forever. If you want to get good at something and be consistent, you have to practice. I had taught myself to knit and it was nearly 6 months before I felt ready to sell, or even give, away anything I had made.
