Stitches

I need to run every day for training but i'm doing terrible. What's the best way to get into shape for stamina

I'm not overweight, underweight a little if anything, and I tr to run after my weight training to burn the most fat, but i run down my road once and I have a side stitch (breathing incorrectly, working on it) and even if I don't get one, I'm out of shape...what are the best methods to get back into shape and gain agility, speed, and stamina.

  1. practise, practise, practise, the more you run (not over exercising yourself) the more your body will get used to the long distances and will be able ot cope with them it is best to start with smaller distances and gradually work up so you dont strain your body, think of it as weight lifting, you wouldnt start with the heaviest weight now would you? hope this helped :) xx
  2. practice everyday. and try to push yourself harder each time. make sure to eat properly and drink lots of water
  3. I would recommend starting off on an elliptical trainer. You can build up your stamina over time. While you are doing that, continue to build up the distance and speed of your running. I've found that the elliptical is great for strengthening your heart and lungs, and general stamina, but it is NOT a replacement for running.
  4. jump rope, you see boxers do it all the time it is a geat cardio workout and works on your foot work and jumping ability you won't jump higher but you will be able to gather quicker after jumps to jump again. I jump rope all the time. and try doing the tricks also.
  5. Hi there, Sort of have this problem too. Have you considered joining a gym and getting yourself a personal trainer. I know they do cost but if you have a fitness assessment it could be that you are pushing yourself too hard, or you need to get in to the habit of running. Doing this via a treadmill first I find is the best way to get in to shape, you start walking then raise the speed then raise the incline, and what I used to do was then run at a faster and faster pace until I hit 13.0. Because I have screws holding some bones together in my body following an accident, I no longer run but I still keep fit through very fast walking at 7.5 at an incline of 18.0. That would be the best way to increase your fitness and if you get a trainer or join a jogging club you could run as part of a group. I would also get yourself checked over to discover what is causing the stitch. Hope this helped Gabby
  6. Run for a few minutes, then walk for a minute, then repeat however many times you want. After a bit, add more minutes towards running and cut out walking breaks. That help builds up your stamina. In no time you'll be running without taking walking breaks and it'll be easier. I hope this helps!
  7. Well, first of all do not eat right before you go running because it can cause the side-stitches that you have been experiencing, as well as slow you down and make you feel lethargic. It is better to have a piece of fruit and a glass of water before you go running. Your stomach should really be virtually empty at least an hour before you go running. To increase your stamina it would help to just keep on practicing. Try sprinting and then gradually slowing down. This works because if you start at a really high pace once you slow the pace down it will feel like less work, and in effect you will be increasing your stamina.
  8. HIIT or Tabata It will kick your butt, but it will build stamina and endurance faster than just about anything. If you can handle it that is........... : ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_interval_training http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1608/is_5_20/ai_n6011850
