How can I keep my one dog from licking the other dog's stitches?
My puppy was recently neutered, and we've been keeping his cone on him, but my other dog keeps licking the puppy's stitches. Is this bad, and how can I prevent it if it is?

- go to the vet and ask for a cone for your other dogs and explain your reasoning why you want them. that should help to prevent your other dogs from licking your puppy's stiches. or you can try your hardest to seprate them. like if you have a basement get a baby gate and block it off and put your other dogs in there and watch your puppy closely until he gets his stiches off.
- Really I dont know if it is the same with dogs but in cats there tongues help to heal wounds so in your dogs mind he actually thinks he is helping the other dog by licking the wound it may actually help with the healing. When my sis had stitches a few months back our cat would do that to her and it actually helped the healing process with them.
- i dont think its bad... dog saliva helps with healing wounds much quicker. thats why they lick themselves when hurt... i wouldnt be too worried.
- either cone both dogs(altho if they are as agile as mine the cone didnt work lol)or get a crate and let them take it in turns being loose so they are apart but can see each other
