Stitches

What is the best embroidery machine for cross stitching?

I am looking to narrow down my options. I would need something with around 6 heads and a 5x7 stitch area. What are best options in terms of quality and price?

  1. have never heard of a machine capable of doing cross stitching I always thought that cross stitching is a hand worked craft only - as is crochet and macrame
  2. I'm a bit partial to the Brother sewing machines, check out the PE-600 (i don't have that model), it's their smallest 6-needle. Overall, Brother machines have really good pricing, then BabyLock seems to be next expensive, then from there, not in any particular order, Bernina, Viking, Husqvarna, Elna, etc. White and Singer seem to be at the lower end of the spectrum for pricing, tho I may be off on the Singers. As far as quality, you will probably get a different answer from everyone you ask. Best thing to do is find a model and get stitch-outs in person. My local sewing machine store has the PE 600 plus some Babylock models and then some; other local sewing machine store has Berninas, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find. Really, it's going to come down to how well you like the interface and software and how the stitch-out looks to you.
