How does one 'embroidery' letters? What stitch style is best to do so?

I'm new to embroidery, and need help figuring out which stitch style is best for making letters. Please help. ~Thank you.

2. For large letters, try satin stitch. The outline stitch or backstitch works well for for medium size letters. As for small letters, you can use one long stitch for each stroke of a block letter.
