Stitches

Need help with this costume (pictures included)?

I'm working on a costume for a movie I'm working on in a class. http://s301.photobucket.com/albums/nn67/SlickFiction/?action=view¤t=S1030440.jpg How does this look? What can I do to make it better (I'm thinking I should burn and stitch it up a bit more, but I'm open to suggestions). Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the suit is part of the costume, but obviously I can't do anything bad to that. I'm basically just talking about the mask. It's loosely based on a character from Guillermo Del Torro's The Orphanage (Just the mask not the character himself) and also the Scarecrow from Batman Begins, in case anyone was interested.

  1. it just doesn't feel lived in enough... you know? it needs more character or something... you should like, dip it in tea to give it a nice faux stained look. it'll come out a watered down looking brown color with just some regular liptons tea. or maybe you could be brave and experiment w/ different colors w/ different types of teas to stain it. green tea, earl grey, and then there's some others i don't know the name of, lol. i would go for the tea, rather than food coloring or fabric dye, yeah. oh! and maybe do a stitching line that goes from the eye all the way to the back of the head! that might give it an interesting look
  2. was that a marker? i would suggest waking up before you make it next time
  3. Good job so far! I would sew some black fabric behind the eye and cut away the eye to reveal the black underneath. Then pad the mask so that your head looks unnaturally round. .
