Is the pain I am having from my 3rd degree tear after childbirth normal?
It's Sunday so I can't call my doc's office until tomorrow to find this out... maybe someone can relate. i had a 3rd degree tear, which I realize was a tear involving the skin and muscles of the perineum. I had my baby 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure the stitches are all healed up. However, the pain I am having is more of an internal vaginal pain that hurts worse when I stand for a long period of time. It feels sort of like a pressure that aches and throbs, as opposed to burning. I have researched the pain, but nothing I have read has described what th epain should feel like... everything just says I will experience "pain." Anyway, I thought I should have been feeling better by now, being 2 weeks since my delivery. Does anyone know what I'm trying to describe? Thanks!

- I ended up tearing badly after I gave birth, and unfortunately it became infected. So maybe this could be the problem, if so you may just need some antibiotics. I would definitely call your doctor's office tomorrow and have them check, always better to be on the safe side. Congrats on the new baby, and Good Luck!
- I had a 3rd degree tear with my first, and I went through the same thing. Just remember that it has only been 2 weeks. It takes quite awhile for a bad tear to heal completely. If it isn't feeling any better, then you have a reason to worry. Just take it easy (as much as a new mom can). Standing for long periods of time increases blood flow to the area, which will make it throb more. You should talk to your doc, if for no other reason than to put your mind at ease. Congrats and good luck!
