Stitches

After ankle surgery, my skin is very tight with a burning and stinging sensation. Is this a problem?

The doctor used staples instead of stitches because of swelling. How should this be treated?

1. It may be just healing, or it may be nerve pain. If it doesn't go away, talk to your surgeon.
2. Tightness, burning and stinging can be due to swelling. Keep your ankle elevated as much as possible, especially when you sleep. If it continues to bother you, notify your doctor.
