How to begin crochet?
I'm just starting crochet, and when I look up guides on how to make basic things (such as a circle, or just a square) I get these insane guides I don't understand. Keep in mind I JUST started today and I have no clue what these shortcuts on the guide mean. I've been wanting to make a strawberry (though I prefer to learn how to make a normal square or circle before trying anything. Can anyone direct me to a very easy to understand guide on how to crochet for beginners. (I tried looking on you tube, and although they had guides I couldn't see or understand what they were doing )

- The Expert Village videos at ehow.com are pretty good for beginners. Beth Essington takes it slow with just one principle per short video. You can skip around in the videos to find one that answers your question. http://www.ehow.com/video_4429311_crochet.html The videos have an advertising banner, and you can get rid of it by clicking the double-down arrow in the upper right corner of the banner. If you'd rather have a book, Leisure Arts' I Can't Believe I'm Crocheting! (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw_3_14?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=i+can%27t+believe+i%27m+crocheting&sprefix=I+can%27t+believ) is pretty good.
- Try the web site crochetpatterncentral.com
- That's really ironic because I just taught myself how to crochet yesterday and today. I used the "learn to crochet" section under learning center at "lionbrand.com" It is totally useful and I am already crocheting pretty well.
- Crochet is quite simple really, and the instructions on any of the above sites are incredibly clear and easy to follow. I think you should get yourself to the nearest local yarn store (lys) and get some instruction. They usually run introductory classes, and it's very worthwhile taking those. When you have the basics, then these videos will all make sense. You can also find a real live person that can watch to see that you are doing it correctly. Sometimes you THINK you are doing it the same, it's not.
