Stitches

With all of today's modern foot wear, does anyone still care for crochet slippers and booties?

Are crocheted [ or kint ], booties still a desired item at baby showers?

  1. Well I don't have a baby, but I still think it's a very cute, thoughtful and useful gift.
  2. I loved them! I crocheted several pairs for our little girl, who's now 5. My friends saw them and wanted me to make them for their babies, too. In the stores, they sell for $10 and up, and we can make them for pennies.
  3. They are still loved for babies, adults find them painful to walk in though. I can feel each and every stitch.
  4. Hmmm I really havn't found that many patterns that appeal to me....but If I find one I'll go for it!! =D
  5. New mommies LOVE things that are handmade for their babies. I Crocheted a English Bonnet for a friend of mine and she went nuts. Soon I had people asking to make them one for their babies!
  6. For Babies, they are an heirloom gift! If you make them to give, get tags and put your name and the date of childs birth for a great heirloom gift! I had 5 kids and never got any homemade booties, I did get homemade blankets, knitt, crochet and quilted. Hope this helps! (I can't crochet and purchased a home-made set of booties for my first grand-daughter!)
  7. Actually, there are folks who make and donate those in adult sizes to the nearest Veteran's Hospital for our recuperating warriors. If you choose to be one of those caring people, please make a few in ladies' sizes; we are seeing more and more women soldiers in need of care for wounds received in battle. Let me tell you - we vets deeply appreciate such acts of care and concern!
  8. I crochet slippers all the time and also make booties. My friend Teresa does UTUBE videos showing how. Here are a few of my favs: http://crafts.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Fluffy_slippers members.aol.com/elegantcrochet2/slipper.html http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/bevsbooties2.html http://www.youtube. com/tjw1963
  9. Absolutely!!!! Especially if you knit or crochet booties with high cuffs that are more difficult to kick off. I love to wear my own knitted, felted slippers, they keep my feet nice and cosy and my g'children (4, 9, 11, and 16) still ask for felted slippers to wear.
  10. I love crochet slippers and socks. It gets really cold at nights this time of the year. I even join slipper exchanges too. When I hear of a friend that is with child, I make sure I crochet some booties for the lil one.
  11. I liked the crocheted booties for baby, but I also like the adult slippers that are tight woven and comfortable for lounging in and warm in winter. I think there would still be a market for them.
  12. Yes. The crochet slippers and booties so pretty, I made it sometimes.
