Can someone find me instructions on how to make the butterfly stitch with two pieces of lanyard?

Don't tell me to go to boondoggleman.com, because I went there, and it was no help whatsoever. I followed their butterfly stitch instructions word for word and my lanyard looked horrendous, it looked nothing like the picture. So, I just need simple, easy to follow instructions on how to make this stitch. Thanks
