women with children help me out!!!!! I have a question about stitches!!?
I gave birth exactly 2 weeks ago. I had 2nd degree tears! The doctor gave me dissolvable stitches. Today when I went pee and wiped, I saw a little twig-like stitch on the toilet paper. My stitches don't really itch anymore, does this mean its in the process of healing--if the stitches are coming out?? Also when they gave me a urinary catheter it hurt!! A week after I gave birth I started noticing a pressure type of pain when I go pee from my pee hole. :( It can't be a UTI because usually that burns/stings..it doesn't burn or sting, it just feels like a throbbing pressure. Is that normal???? Please help! & thank you!!!

- Yes its the process of healing. And that throbbing could be the beginning of an UTI. I don't recall having any pressure there 2 weeks later.
- As far as the stitches. Your body will get rid of them generally when it is healed/healing. Sounds like that's what's happening, but I would check with your OB. As far as the catheter, I have no idea. I've never had one
- dissolvable stitches do that. Yes you are healing, and they are falling out. As for the pain I would go back to the doctor. There should never be any pain with that. Whats odd is it took a week to show up. I don't know, I would go and talk to the doctor who delivered you.
- It sounds like it's just healing, even the stitches - but if you are concerned it never hurts to get it checked out by your doc or at least give them a call. That's what they're there for - and at least you're sure then, and if something was wrong, you didn't sit on it too long.
- I had 3rd degree tears with my first son. I would say that by now you should be feeling better with the stitches, if everything was done correctly. I wouldn't worry about the stitch on the tp. I also had a catheter because I had an epi (never again, thank you very much) and didn't have any complications, so I don't know about the pressure pain. I do remember feeling like I had an air bubble in my vagina for quite some time (sorry if that's tmi) but it was never a hurting pressue. I would call and talk to your dr. Ask him/her if you can go in to be checked to make sure everythings okay and tell them about the pressure.
- i dont think theres nothing to wry, but im not a doc- so in my opnion u should call ur gyn-ob and inform him of whats going on and get his word for it. about the UTI- uti dosnt really always mean that it has to b burnin when u go pee- u can have many discomfort down there and it end up bn a uti or infection. u just had a baby so its possible ur stiches are just coming out-which its totally normal- and about the pressure down there go check it out. maybe its nothing since u just had a lil one- but maybe could b a infection. so my point is: go c ur doc or simply give him a quick call to ask.
