Stitches

I need help with these knitting instructions. They are confusing me.?

Ok. It says (RS) K12 sts, turn. Leave remaining stitches on a spare needle and continue on these stitches only for the first side. I knitted the 12 stitches but what do they mean by turn? I put the other stitches on another needle but what does it mean by continue on these stitches only for the first side? Somebody please help me!

1. turn the work around and do whatever on the 12 stitches that you just knitted. ignore the ones on the other needle or stitch holder. You are just going to be working on the first 12 stitches of that side until the instructions tell you to go to the other stitches that you have been ignoring.
2. Just do what the directions say. It will work out.
