Stitches

What stitches would be good to crochet around a piece of fabric for a glass cover?

The fabric for the center is round with holes in the design so I thought about doing some stitching around and finishing with some chains with beads in them. Which stitch / pattern would you suggest?

  1. Try doing a single crochet around the fabric, then make another row of say, ch3, slip a small bead up, sc into next ch, ch3, sc or ss into third sc of previous row. Repeat around. Slip the number of beads that you think you will need onto your thread before you start. You may want to adjust the number of ch's to suit the size of the project and the beads. The finished effect will be somewhat of a picot using a bead instead of thread.
  2. I would crochet in slip stitch to connect chains and fabric together, and use slip stitch or single crochet or double crochet to create crocheted fabric with hole size about the same as the holes in your fabric. Good Luck!
