looking for a knitting machine would love to try to knit on one.

2. Try freecycle or craigslist for your area. They are great places for getting good stuff for free or not a lot of cash.
3. "The usual" places to look include your local FreeCycle on-line group, local thrift shops, and Craigslist. Expect to have to replace the needle retainer bar (sponge bar) right away if the machine has one (most do) (http://knittsings.com/knitting-machine-sponge-bar/). Suggestion: Locate a machine knitting club nearby and get in touch. The club members will likely know who has a machine for sale or give-away. They will also be able to give you lots of help and encouragement as you experiment with your new hobby.
